Earlier this year, the Mayor of Aarhus, Anders Winnerskjold, launched a vision for developing an East Jutland finger plan inspired by the capital’s Finger Plan from 1947. According to the Mayor, the goal is to make it significantly easier to commute to and from Aarhus across municipal boundaries. The ambition is a unified, overarching regional transport plan that links state and municipal infrastructure and takes a long-term view with plans for the integrated development of East Jutland.
Across three open events, MorgenPerspektiv invites the public to debate the perspectives, challenges, and possible solutions raised by the mayor’s initiative. At the first of the three sessions on a possible East Jutland finger plan, the gauntlet thrown down by Winnerskjold is taken up. The session opens with a brief outline of previous initiatives — and, on that basis, discusses the challenges and opportunities that a future East Jutland finger plan may hold.
The second session outlines further perspectives and presents possible scenarios and concrete solutions, drawing inspiration from the Finger Plan 2.0 competition in Copenhagen.
At the third and final session, politicians are invited to take the floor. What is the current status? What do the elected representatives want? Has sufficient thought been given to the connection between infrastructure, urban, and landscape development in the ongoing cross-municipal dialogue on an East Jutland finger plan?
