PRE-QUALIFIED FOR THE COMPETITION FOR THE ART PATH ‘ARKEN WALK’
Together with TREDJE NATUR (Third Nature), BBJ has been invited to take part in the competition to design the art path ARKEN WALK in Ishøj south of Copenhagen, which is to connect the centre of Ishøj with the Arken art museum. The team has a strong interdisciplinary profile with competencies and expertise from the engineering consulting firm EKJ Rådgivende Ingeniører, artist Ingvar Cronhammar and light designer Fortheloveoflight.
‘The competition for ARKEN WALK – an art path in Ishøj aims to develop a project that will turn the walk between Ishøj train station and ARKEN into an attraction in its own right – giving the residents of Ishøj an everyday opportunity to experience and interact with art; offering the rest of Denmark and tourists from around the world an opportunity to experience art outside the thick museum walls; motivating visitors and locals of all ages to get outside to experience the weather, the urban space, nature, to move and be moved, to be challenged and intrigued; enhancing the cohesion of the modernist city, the connectedness between station and art museum, urban centre and beach park, different urban areas, different people; demonstrating that art is for everyone, that art is variable, and that city, art, architecture, nature can engage in a rewarding dialogue with each other – and with humanity.’
