MODERATOR AT INSPIRATION CONFERENCE

Silkeborg is growing in terms of both population numbers and jobs. In response to this trend, Silkeborg City Council has passed a development plan for a new urban district near Gødvad, called Eriksborg. With room for 3,800 new homes and a new urban core with a school, preschool, nursing home and activity areas, the district is going to be an important new part of the city of Silkeborg.

The inspiration conference marks the beginning of the creation of Eriksborg, and ambitions are high: ‘Eriksborg is to be an “innovatorium” for tomorrow’s healthy communities. We aim to create a new urban district with its own distinct identity and local character that makes it clear that Silkeborg is Denmark’s Outdoor Capital. To accomplish that, the district will be based on a robust, recreational infrastructure with direct access to the beautiful landscapes of the Gudenå river valley. With Eriksborg, we are shifting our focus from traditional urban development to landscape-driven site development – from enclave to green network.’
