ROLLING TALK SHOW ABOUT ARCHITECTURE
Is the petrol station an architectural project or is it just a large advertising sign that has learned the lesson from Las Vegas? Why has the typology of the petrol station never been truly embraced by architects? What can we learn from Jacobsen, Utzon and COBE when we look at future charging station architecture? Are there architectural qualities in the traditional ad-based petrol station that we are overlooking?
‘Utzon on the Road and Lasse Andersson have invited architect, architecture critic, PhD and incorrigible optimist Boris Brorman Jensen on a road trip through Jutland to Copenhagen on a quest to grasp the architecture of petrol stations over more than 80 years, from Arne Jacobsen and Jørn Utzon to Dan Stubbergaard and COBE. As always, we are on the search for good architecture and ask: Are petrol and charging stations just a place to refuel and an advertising sign, or is there potential for more, as we travel from A to B.’
