New City Park in Gellerup and Toveshøj

The new city park is intended as the green spine in the transformation of Gellerup and Toveshøj. Together with the plans for a new main street, the competition area plays a key role in the development of Gellerup and Toveshøj as attractive Aarhus neighbourhoods. The proposal connects the green urban spaces of Toveshøj and Gellerup with the two landscape wedges Skjoldhøjkilen and Brabrand Ådal, thus constituting a missing link in Aarhus’s overall landscape network.

The project takes a holistic approach to the many elements of the park: terrain, landscape, rainwater, plants, networks, activities and special places. The intention is to create new green urban spaces that will help generate a new story about Gellerup and Toveshøj and make a positive contribution to the comprehensive and ambitious transformation process that the area is undergoing.
