If realized, Morsø Multi-Purpose Park would be the first of its kind in Denmark, outside a major metropolitan area, to incorporate nature, culture, education, health and civic life in a single recreational landscape.
Nykøbing Mors has several active local associations and a dynamic local community, especially at Dueholmmarken in connection with the training centre Morsø Uddannelsescenter, the stadium Jyske Bank Mors Arena, the school Dueholmskolen, Sports College Mors and the students’ residence hall Dueholmkollegiet. The area is also home to the theatre Limfjordsteateret, which, along with Jyske Bank Mors Arena, attracts a large audience from the surrounding area.
The plan illustrates the common visions and brings the many different stakeholders’ requests into a single landscape solution. The project weaves nature, culture, health and learning together to create a new recreational circle of culture and education around the city. Another ambition is to promote a more active use of the surrounding farmland and create a new landscape that offers rich experiences and stimulates synergy among the existing institutions and associations.
The plan was prepared in cooperation with JAJA architects and the association Foreningen Morsø Multipark.
