Project Presentation
Denmark is facing a historic transformation of its landscape, with 15% of agricultural land set to be converted into untouched nature as a result of the green tripartite agreement. At the same time, rising water levels threaten around 600,000 households, calling for long-term, sustainable solutions. The project “Vandets Veje” (The Paths of Water), organised by the Danish Association of Architects and supported by Dreyers Fond, has tasked three interdisciplinary architect teams with developing vision scenarios for three Danish water catchment areas: the Skjern River system, the Grenå River catchment near Kolindsund, and the Kornerup sub-catchment south of Roskilde.
A common feature of the scenarios is a gradual transformation towards 2050, where water is allowed to flow freely instead of being fought against. The scenarios serve as inspiration for municipalities and regions facing similar challenges, emphasizing a holistic approach with respect for nature, local residents, and landownerAll Postss. The goal is to create robust, attractive, and sustainable landscapes for the future.
