MODERATOR OF TALK ABOUT AARHUS AFTER THE PANDEMIC

Two special talks about nature and urban development in the City of Aarhus are held in connection with the architecture exhibition ‘20000000’ at Ridehuset during Aarhus Festival 2021.

Talk I – AARHUS AFTER THE PANDEMIC deals with the topic of nature and urban development in Aarhus . It takes place in the middle of this year’s architecture exhibition ‘20000000’ at Ridehuset and welcomes participants in Aarhus Festival 2021.

Talk I – AARHUS AFTER THE PANDEMIC also addresses some of our early expectations for the impact of the pandemic on our everyday lives; a preliminary taking stock, as the pandemic continues, of urban development potentials and possibilities as well as challenges and limitations.

Eighteen months’ state of emergency due to the pandemic tested the residents of Aarhus, along with the rest of the world, and as the city of Aarhus continues to densify, we all suddenly learned to social-distance.

Urban spaces and the way we use them changed overnight, and familiar urban structures and functions were transformed in response to the threat of the pandemic.

The pandemic had a simultaneously developing and dismantling effect – but what did we learn, and what should we take away from this experience?

Will the pandemic state of emergency continue to influence urban development in the long term?

Have we developed new standards for the way we use the urban space, and will they continue to influence the future development of our cities?

These are some of the topics you can learn more about when City Architect Anne Mette Boye, the City of Aarhus, architect Søren Leth, partner in SLETH, and Senior Researcher, anthropologist Marie Stender, Aalborg University, engage in a talk about Aarhus After the Pandemic moderated by architect Boris Brorman Jensen.
