In the Arkitekten theme issue ‘Best & Worst’, a large number of professionals offer their take on new builds, identifying high points as well as the less successful projects of 2020. I have contributed with reviews of Aarhus University Hospital and Maltfabrikken in Ebeltoft.
‘Maltfabrikken in Ebeltoft is, without comparison, the finest piece of architecture I have seen this year (see also previous spread, Ed.). In my opinion, it is an exemplary restoration and conversion project and a great example of mixing different functions. The project includes a city archive, workshops, cultural venues, a café, a brewery, shops and even a skate track. Thus, it invites a diverse audience, so that market and music events are not the sole basis for activity in the buildings.’
