POTENTIALS OF LANDSCAPES NEAR URBAN AREAS: PROBLEM STATEMENT

There is no science, no urban-ology, which can offer a comprehensive theory about the city. Although this thesis deals primarily with the specific interest in the city that is inherent to architecture and urban planning, the analysis and research involved will not necessarily be directed exclusively towards the built environment and the related theories. The point of departure for the ‘criticism of the critique’, which is discussed in the preliminary problem statement, is exactly the apparent crisis in the perspectives that have traditionally addressed the city as a system of built order.
