Is the architecture of the risk society at risk?

In the Danish magazine Arkitekten, Boris Brorman Jensen writes about the third Architecture Triennale in Oslo, which alongside the main exhibition, ‘Culture of Risk’, offered an international conference under the same title as well as a series of smaller exhibitions, seminars and cultural events with a focus on design, architecture, planning and cultural heritage.

 

‘Curator Gary Bates from Space Group, who came to Norway well over ten years ago, seemed to ask himself, “If the Norwegians can launch missiles into orbit from a floating launch pad, why can’t they create architecture that gets more attention on the international scene? Is the Nordic architecture suffering from a form of consensus sickness?”’
