The Olympic games, world expos, festivals, cultural events and other temporary programmes present special challenges to designers, architects and planners. Buildings that can easily be disassembled and cites that can rapidly cease to exist have become a thriving discipline with the emergence of the so-called experience economy. The Danish magazine Arkitekten asked Boris Brorman Jensen and Katrine Østergaard Bang to outline current trends in temporary architecture and its current relevance and significance.
