Should East Jutland Have a Finger Plan?
Earlier this year, Aarhus Mayor Anders Winnerskjold launched a vision for an East Jutland Finger Plan, inspired by the Copenhagen Finger Plan of 1947. The ambition is to coordinate mobility, urban development and landscape planning across municipal boundaries, thereby creating a more coherent framework for East Jutland’s future development.
Through a series of three MorgenPerspektiv events, I have helped explore what it would take for this vision to move from a political proposal to a shared regional reality. This third event in the series focused on the political support, municipal interests and forms of collaboration that will prove decisive if a new plan is to extend beyond the boundaries of Aarhus Municipality.
Among those taking the stage were Aarhus Mayor Anders Winnerskjold, who originally championed the vision, and Michael Harregaard Stegger, Mayor of Syddjurs Municipality, who offered the neighbouring municipality’s perspective on the initiative.
